Transverse spinet, Basel (?), after 1760
Description
Peter Fridrich Brosi was baptized in Schwäbisch Hall on 14 January 1700. After completing his carpentry apprenticeship, he turned his attention to organ building and studied with Andreas Silbermann in Strasbourg from February 1728 to August 10, 1732. He probably settled in Basel a little later. He took care of the various organs in the city. On November 5, 1733, he married Maria Elisabeth Illinger from Strasbourg in Grenzach. After his death in 1764, his sixteen-year-old son Johann Jacob took over the workshop.
