The oath on the Rütli
Description
The three confederates swearing the oath on the Rütli were also made by Anton Sohn after a model by the Basel painter Hieronymus Hess and in two sizes. The year '1308' in the inscription can be explained by the fact that until the middle of the 19th century this year was generally assumed to be the date of the oath of allegiance.
