Tea caddy with squirrel decoration based on Japanese kakiemon model
Description
Pâte tendre is a porcelain-like, glassy frit without kaolin. The ingredients quartz, common salt, gypsum, alum, soda, saltpeter, etc. are "fritted", i.e. fired, then pulverized and mixed with clay and glue. The low firing temperatures allow a rich palette of on-glaze colors.
