Object description

Rubber bullet as a reminder

On 21 June 1988, the site of the former city nursery in the St. Johann neighbourhood

was cleared by police after being temporarily used by an alternative

cultural scene. Violence ensued, with the deployment of tear gas and

rubber bullets. An uninvolved schoolboy found himself in the conflict. He

picked up a piece of rubber bullet from the street, which he kept for thirty

years as a reminder. In 2018, he responded to a search request of the museum

and donated the object to the collection.
