Self-portrait of Daniel Burckhardt-Wildt (1752-1819)
Description
Daniel Burckhard-Wildt (1752-1819), together with his son Jeremias Bruckhardt-Iselin (1779-1838), ran the silk ribbon company Burckhardt-Wildt & Sohn, founded in 1790. He also distinguished himself as an important art collector, was artistically active himself, and founded the Basel Artists' Society. He was married to Margaretha Wildt (1755-1810).
