Objekt 10
Round pocket watch
Description
The dial of this clock shows an engraved view of the city of Geneva, probably based on the painting "Der wunderbare Fischzug" by Konrad Witz (1400-1446), also known at that time. The case is decorated with opaque champlevé enamel in blue and white. For this purpose, recesses are worked into the case, filled with enamel and then fired. The back plate is signed "Henry Ester". The Ester family had connections to Augsburg and is documented in Geneva since the second third of the 17th century.
