Portrait of the family of scribe Franz Matzinger-Egger

Description

The family lived in Petersgasse at the time the painting was created, around 1820. The father of the family is dressed in a brown robe and patterned gilet, his wife and the younger of the daughters are wearing a dress made of a colored and printed cotton fabric, while the older sister is wearing a white, perhaps silk dress. The two daughters are splendidly decked out in their typical Biedermeier bonnets, while the mother wears a simple lace hood.
