Portrait medallion of a lady from the Basel Lachenal family
Description
The portrait shows a lady from the Basel Lachenal family. The family descended from a French noble family from the Auvergne region. In the 17th century they moved to Savoy, where they received confirmation of their nobility in 1697. One branch of the family later settled in Basel, the other in Geneva.
