Pocket watch with Jacquemarts
Description
This pocket watch features as Jacquemarts two monkeys climbing a column and striking the bell. Engraved on the dust cover is the signature "Breguet à Paris No 9622". However, this is false: since the end of the 18th century and in the 19th century, numerous "fake Breguet watches" were made that did not come from the ateliers of Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823). In this context, any pocket watch with a serial number above 5500 is considered a fake, as is any 19th century pocket watch with the signature "Breguet à Paris". This watch was made in Geneva in the early 19th century.
