Pocket watch

Description

The fine enamel painting with inlaid gold plates, so-called "gold paillons", is framed by pearls and shows two young ladies next to a garden monument. In the Far East, depictions of women in Western dress were as fascinating and exotic as images of women in Chinese or later Japanese costume were in the West.
