Exceptional unique piece
Very few Strasbourg faiences are decorated with landscape decorations. They were made during the period when Joseph Hannong was in charge of the manufactory, and they are all decorated in camaieu painting. In this technique, only one color is used; different color intensities and mixtures provide a differentiated rendering. The purple camaieu was particularly popular. In addition to the beaded rim, the plate also has a fine relief decoration with leaf motifs, which is emphasized by the blue painting. The gold rim additionally emphasizes the preciousness of this plate.
