Pear jug
Description
Daniel Meyer (1761-1824) of Basel, mentioned in the inscription, became a candidate for the Reformed pastorate (S.M.C. = Sacri Ministerii Candidatus) in 1784 and a German pastor in Geneva in 1788, where he remained until 1794. Perhaps the jug with the seascape was a gift for his assumption of office in Geneva.
