Part of a gate lattice from the house "Zum Schwarzen Bären" at Aeschenvorstadt 41
Description
The fragment shows a bear holding the initials L and N held together in a frame. The context to which the bear originally belonged is no longer apparent. The fragment comes from the house "Zum Schwarzen Bären" at the Aeschenvorstadt. There were numerous inns located there. The inn "Zum Schwarzen Bären" had a long history, but had to give way in 1901/1902 to the new building of the "Baslerhof", which operated until 1970 and was demolished.
