Noonwhite
Description
A circular brass band with a small disc with a fine opening, a hole gnomon, is attached to a base into which an angle measure and a compass are sunk. The sun's orbit, meridians, etc. are engraved on a plate. A center scale indicates the position of the sun on the first of each month. Noon sages indicate the time of noon or the passage of the sun through the meridian by means of the hour angle of the sun. They were often used to set wheel clocks.
