Money chest
Description
The heavy money chest is made of iron, as was common for chests used to store money and securities from the 15th to the 19th century. Such chests were often equipped with technically elaborate locks. This complicated locking mechanism with 24 movable tongs occupies the entire inner surface of the chest lid. A lock cover, which often concealed the lock, is not present here.
