Miniature portrait of Maria Salome Buxtorf (born 1754)
Description
The sitter was the daughter of Johannes Buxtorf (1702-1768), professor of medicine and city physician in Basel. In the portrait, she is wearing a pink dress with a white fichu (a triangular or square cloth folded diagonally into a triangle that covers a woman's neck and décolleté) and holds a fan in her right hand.
