Mammoth ivory. An alternative from the deep freeze?
Description
Global warming is causing the Siberian permafrost to thaw. This is bringing to light the skeletons of mammoths that died some 12,000 years ago. The ivory of mammoths can be bought on the open market. Instrument makers use it as an alternative to elephant ivory. While some campaigners for endangered species hoped that this would provide an alternative to ivory from slain elephants, this is generally not the case.
