Large narrow neck jug with pewter lid
Description
According to tradition, wine jugs of this type were in many cases brought home from the Frankfurt fair. In Basel, they were then capped by local pewterers, as well as here by Basel pewterer Niklaus II Übelin (mentioned in 1682, guilded in 1705, died in 1756).
