conifer (belly); maple, gnarled maple (back, ribs); tropical wood (forepillar harp)

peg-box open in the back; six laterally inserted pegs in the back with·screw mechanism 13 frets (fingerboard); six stopped strings, twelve unstopped strings

The father-in-law of the donator, Dr. phil. Heinrich Eggenberger­ Mosimann (1899–1980) played the instrument in joyous company in the teetotaler student fraternity Rhenania.

The instrument built in Basel in 1932 gave thereby its long­ forgotten predecessors, made between 1798 and 1828 in London, a late revival.
