Folding sundial for horizontal and vertical position
Description
The Karner family was a Nuremberg compass-making family that produced folding sundials in several generations. Few examples of folding sundials, mostly made of ivory, dating from 1620 to 1740, are now in the collections of international museums. This folding sundial, which can be used to tell the time in both horizontal and vertical positions, bears the signature of Conrad Karner (1571-1632).
