Description
The Stockert family was a family of compass makers, active for many generations. The foundation for compass making was laid by Ernst Christoph Stockert (1746-1811), probably towards the end of the 18th century. Christoph Ernst Stockert (1730-1780) and then Johann Paul Stockert (1771-after 1830) also produced folding sundials with a built-in compass.
