Figures from tragacanth

Description

The small figures depict scenes of everyday life, commedia dell'arte figures, hunters, soldiers, musicians, putti, lovers, allegorical figures, and a variety of different professions. Even themes of national content appeared, such as the figure of a Confederate (in the top row) wreathing an imaginary tomb monument of Wilhelm Tell. Such thematic diversity is also known from the field of porcelain figurines, with which the abundance of life was brought to the table.
