Fanfare Trumpet ('honour-trumpet') in E flat, short, two loops
Description
Signal trumpets differ from signal horns in their construction and thus also in their bore. The tubing of the signal trumpet, which is considerably longer than that of the bugle, is largely cylindrical, while that of the bugle is almost always conical; the diameter of the tubing of the signal trumpet is considerably smaller than that of the bugle.
In their function of conveying military signals, the two instruments correspond to each other. Likewise, instruments dedicated to a military unit for special merit can be found in both instrument groups (e.g. the three signal trumpets as well as two English signal horns).
