Description
George Adams Sr. (1704-1773) ran a successful instrument-making factory in London, which was particularly famous for its telescopes and microscopes. After his father's death in 1773, George Adams Jr. (1750-1795) took over the company as well as the titles "Mathematical Instrument Maker to His Majesty's Office of Ordnance," "Mathematical Instrument Maker in Ordinary to His Majesty," and "Optician to the Prince of Wales." He successfully ran the company until his death in 1795, after which it was continued by his younger brother Dudley (1762-1830).
