Elephant ears

Description

Elephants hear not only with their ears, but also with their feet. Their low rumbles are barely audible to the human ear, but carry both as acoustic waves through the air and as vibrations through the earth. Their ability to detect sounds with both feet and ears enables elephants to locate each other with great accuracy even over vast distances. Their huge ear flaps do not enhance their sense of hearing but regulate body temperature.
