Crucifix clock

Description

An engraved base with an openwork gallery contains the clock and striking mechanism. The time is indicated on a globe placed above the crucifix. On the hill Golgotha hangs Christ on the cross, accompanied by Mary and John. Crucifix clocks of this type, usually with a fully sculpted crucifixion group and a globe with numerals mounted above the tall cross and driven by the movement in the base, were made from the late 16th to the 18th century.
