Châtelaine (belt chain for attaching a pocket watch)

Description

The châtelaine was a widespread ornamental and utilitarian item in the 18th century. Attached to the waistband of a skirt or to a belt, it served as a pendant for precious watches, watch keys and also ornamental objects. The heart attached to this belt chain can be opened. In it a hair is kept as a souvenir.
