Bedpan

Description

Bedpans like the one on the canopy bed were filled with warm coal and served to warm the beds. The wooden handle prevented people from injuring themselves while using the pan. In the 19th century, the bedpan was finally replaced by the hot water bottle filled with hot water, as it is still known today under the term "bed bottle".
