Astronomical table clock
Description
A case of rich vine work standing on four lion's paws supports the body of the clock. This has dials on both sides, on the front with world time indication, large circulating seconds, hour dial, sub-dials for the chime movement, minute dial and lunar calendar. On the back, a large minute and hour dial shows the time. Above a square top with painted landscapes, a Chinese man kneels in a pavilion, striking the hours on the dome with his arm. A carillon with eight bells plays four melodies. The clock may have been intended for the Chinese market.
