Since July 2023, the HMB has been researching the provenance of selected musical instruments from the collection with generous support from the Federal Office of Culture and the City of Basel. At the end of the project, the HMB is organising a conference.
On 17 and 18 October 2024, more than 15 contributions will be presented on the topic of provenance research on musical instruments. Insights into the diverse research projects on the topic will be provided and the results of the Basel project will be presented.
You can now register for the conference. The number of seats on site is limited. Please register as soon as possible using the registration form below. You can register for one day, for both days or for the live stream.
The registration window is open until 31 August 2024. We will send you additional information and an invoice for payment of the conference fee by e-mail after registration. Your registration is only complete once the conference fee has been paid.
Day ticket: CHF 30
Entitles the holder to participate on one of the days (Thursday or Friday)
Two-day ticket: CHF 60
Entitles the holder to participate on both days (Thursday and Friday)
Online participation: free of charge

The conference will take place on 17 and 18 October 2024 at the Musikmuseum. The Musikmuseum Basel is centrally located in Basel's city centre in the Lohnhof. It is part of the Basel Historical Museum. With over 3,300 objects, it has the largest collection of musical instruments in Switzerland.
