The «Inventarium» is a small special exhibition about collecting and organising things and knowledge in the museum. Here you can find out what a general inventory is and why the Historical Museum needs one. What are the «Inventis» doing in the depots? From knights' helmets to women's strike posters - the general inventory checks the approximately 300,000 objects in the museum collection and draws our attention to the historical changes in the way we deal with museum property. How and why have exhibition and storage practices changed?
The «Inventarium» presents underestimated areas of museum work. That is why we open the doors of our depots at least three times a year for an open guided tour and document the processes of inventory.
In the special exhibition, you can discover «found objects» from the inventory and learn about the potential we see in these objects.
