Basel-born Caspar Bauhin (1560-1624) is overshadowed by Felix Platter. But who was Basels first professor of anatomy and botany?
In the library display case in the Barfüsserkirche, we are focusing on Caspar Bauhin in collaboration with the University Library of Basel and showing works that testify to his tremendous creative power as a physician.
Anniversary exhibition on the 400th anniversary of the death of Caspar Bauhin
The university library is showing the work of Caspar Bauhin (1560-1624) as a botanist. Bauhin made it an independent science in Basel. The exhibition shows the importance of Bauhin's research and teaching work for botany to this day, using exhibits from the Bauhin herbarium and the university library.
