Every year a festive mood is created in the wonderful Stadtpalais. When it gets cold outside and you like being inside, Christmas is not far away. More than ten fir trees are set up and lovingly decorated in the Haus zum Kirschgarten for the first Advent.
The scent of firs, the glow of lights, the historical and modern tree decorations and the magnificent premises transport visitors to another world, leave them amazed and quite festive. A visit is worthwhile for young and old, because in addition to the guided tours on offer, many things can also be discovered by oneself. A small reading corner invites you to browse through Christmas and winter stories, and little squirrel figures are hidden throughout the house and on every tree.
During the pre-Christmas period, the Basel Historical Museum organises guided tours of the Haus zum Kirschgarten for young and old.
On 15 December, everyone is also invited to sing well-known Christmas carols.
The Haus zum Kirschgarten will also be open on the following Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.: 5 Dec, 12 Dec, 19 Dec, 26 Dec 2023. The trees will be on display from Sat 2 Dec until around 7 Jan 2024. Some trees may have to be removed or replaced before the end date.
