The Haus zum Kirschgarten looks more radiant than ever at Christmas time. Stylishly enhanced by a seasonal exhibition of Christmas trees, its magnificent Neoclassical architecture can be experienced in a whole new way.
The numerous trees festooned with historical and modern ornaments lend the grand mansion a festive atmosphere and paint a vivid picture of how the Christmas trees displayed in private homes have changed over the years. All the historical tree decorations belonged to Basel households originally and with their different styles attest to the different periods in which they were made. The modern tree ornaments introduce a fresh angle and make for a striking visual contrast with the Haus zum Kirschgarten’s period rooms.
Historisches Museum Basel invites you to take part in atmospheric guided tours for young and old during the pre-Christmas period in the Haus zum Kirschgarten and Musikmuseum. The open singing will take place in the Haus zum Kirschgarten as well as in the Musikmuseum.
This year, the Haus zum Kirschgarten is also open on Tuesdays in December from 11 am to 5 pm.
