Violin

The violin was repaired by Peter Kachel (23 April 1758–13 December 1831) in 1829.
Kachel played from 1778–1827 the violin and the double-bass in the Basel orchestra. He also sold sheet music and worked as an instrument maker and copyist.

His father Jacob Christoph Kachel (1728–1795), one of the leading musicians in Basel in the 18th century, was kapellmeister, violinist, composer and music-teacher; he was also the 'chamber-musician' of Lukas Sarasin in the 'Blaue Haus'.

In 1792 he wrote a 'theory of instruments'.
