Description
Painted with decor "Yellow lion". The motif of the yellow "lion" (today "yellow tiger") is also derived from Japanese kakiemon decorations. Although in Europe the animal with its characteristic fur stripes was copied exactly and people basically knew what a tiger looked like, they originally called it a lion. The decoration was used in Meissen from around 1728 and was initially used mainly for deliveries to the Saxon court.
