Room 202

Passage room

This passage room originally led to the servants' staircase, which was demolished in the 1940s (now the exhibition cabinet). The sandstone fireplace, made around 1760, comes from the house at Petersgraben 7. Above the mantelpiece is a view of Holee Castle in Binningen near Basel, painted by Maximilian Neustück (1756-1834). The cabinet, made of veneered walnut around 1700, shows the form popular in the Baroque period with spiral columns and a decoration with carved angel head consoles and flower garlands.
