Bourdalou ("Pot-de-chambre")

A bourdalou is a chamber pot for ladies that was supposedly also used during the day. Given the fullness of fabric of the dresses of the time, such a vessel made urination noticeably easier. Elaborately painted specimens like this one are probably to be considered piquant gifts.
