Basel Historical Museum has its own academic library. The 27,000 books held there all have some bearing on the museum’s own collections. The main focus is on the period from the 15th to the 19th century and on the applied arts (gold- and silver-smithing, textiles, glass, ceramics, furniture) and numismatics, supplemented by publications on musical instruments, horology, archaeology, restoration and conservation, and works of a more general nature on the cultural history of Basel.

The library is part of the IDS-Verbund Basel/Bern meaning that its complete stocks are listed in the online catalogue.
