Sally De Kunst is the Head of Programme at the Basel Historical Museum since July 2024. After completing a BA in graphic design and an MA in art history, she worked as a cultural journalist and curator in Belgium. She came to Switzerland in 2007 and produced numerous projects at the interface between art and society as the director of the interdisciplinary arts festival Belluard Bollwerk in Fribourg. From 2014 to 2019, she directed Arc artist residency in Romainmôtier - an institution of the Migros Culture Percentage - and was a member of the Culture and Social Affairs Directorate of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives in Zurich. She has also worked as a freelance project manager, curator, author, and workshop leader.
Sally De Kunst has been interested in organizational development and agile methods since 2015 and has completed several studies and courses, including in innovation management, coaching and design thinking. She was able to use all these experiences as head of the pioneer phase (2021-2024) of the Museumsquartier Bern to develop an organizational structure, cultural projects, an umbrella brand and an urban space together with the employees of the eleven cultural and educational institutions. At the Basel Historical Museum, she is responsible for setting up the new Programme department and developing the new outreach concept.
