Born in Basel. After an apprenticeship as a dental technician worked for various dental laboratories before opening one of his own. While self-employed completed a part-time course in dental prosthetics at the School of Dental Prosthetics in Zurich. After fifteen years in the business decided to change course. Gained a foothold in museum security through his work for a facility management provider. Several years as supervisor at an establishment of international renown. Joined Basel Historical Museum as deputy head of objects, later becoming head of objects with a diverse remit. Philip Glatthaar lives in Basel with his partner of many years’ standing.
