Head of Collection & Curator of Contemporary History: Patrick Moser

Biography

Patrick Moser has been building up the collection of the new Contemporary History Department ever since joining Basel Historical Museum in June 2017. He was project manager and curator of the special exhibition Borderlines – Basel 1933–1945 and co-edited the tie-in publication of the same name. He has also been involved in various other projects by the museum. He is a member of the Management Board and took up the position as Head of Collections in March 2021.

After graduating in history, comparative religion and jurisprudence, Patrick Moser spent the years 2009–2011 working as a research assistant at Basel Historical Museum, where he was on the teams that created the exhibitions In der Fremde. Mobilität und Migration seit der Frühen Neuzeit and Schuldig – Verbrechen. Strafen. Menschen. Thereafter he served as Director of the Museum Kleines Klingental for two years, where he co-organized several shows as well as preparing the new regulations for the running of the museum for Basel’s Governing Council. This was followed by a phase as a freelance historian, doctoral candidate at ETH Zurich and HR consultant at the regional job centre. Patrick Moser has been on the committee of the Historische und Antiquarische Gesellschaft zu Basel (HAG) since 2010 and has been co-editor of the Basler Zeitschrift für Geschichte und Altertumskunde since 2018.
