Head of Conservation at Basel Historical Museum (HMB) since April 2018. Prior to that nearly twenty years as a conservator-restorer at three museums of international renown, Kunstmuseum Bern, Kunstmuseum Basel, Aargauer Kunsthaus, as well as important private collections. Since autumn 2020 member of the Management Board.
Holder of a Master of Arts BFH in Conservation-Restoration from Bern University of the Arts, Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), and a degree in International Trust Management (Dip.ITM). Qualified chemical technician and assayer, conservator-restorer of the Swiss Association for Conservation and Restoration (SKR) and member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Marcus Jacob is interested in art and culture, and as a half-native of the Engadine, he likes sports and enjoys hiking and skiing.
